I’ve always been interested in card games, but I find myself often disinterested due to designs that are too dull or rules that are too complex. My dream was to create a simple card game, with a retro feel, colourful design and just a few simple accessories. Combining this with my love of fantasy and turn-based strategy games, I came up with the concept for Pixel Clash – a retro, randomised, dragon-slaying card game.
Probably Pixel Clash’s best feature is its flexibility. It’s playable by a single person or a small group (up to six people), with a short playtime, some light strategy, and plenty of replayability. No two games are the same, as you can change up your chosen Player and Dragon cards, there’s a recurring coin-flip mechanic, each round has random Actions/Minions to deal with, and there’s plenty of scope for adjusting the game difficulty too.
Think of Pixel Clash like a constant challenge of unknowns – can your team beat the Red Dragon? How about the Green Dragon? Can you defeat the Dragon alone? What Minions will you have to deal with this time? Should I focus on pure damage or healing and defence? And to boot, we’re planning on releasing free “Alternative Gameplay” rules on our website later in 2022! So grab yourself a copy, and take on the fierce Dragons and their loyal Minions in a fight for survival!
